Contacting Navajo Nation Chapters

Notes on Chapter Information

While going through the chapters and trying to find their contact information and Facebook pages, I noticed that some chapters do not have an official Facebook page or an active online presence. This seems to be pretty common across the reservation, since not every chapter has someone managing a social media page or updating their information regularly.

For some chapters, I was able to find a Facebook page, but it wasn’t always clear if it was the official chapter page. There are also pages that have not been updated in a long time, so I didn’t want to automatically use them without knowing if they are still being managed by the chapter. Some pages may also be community-created pages rather than an official chapter account.

Finding accurate phone numbers was another challenge. Some chapter phone numbers listed online are outdated, and in some cases, I found different phone numbers depending on the website or page I checked. It can be difficult to know which number is currently being used without contacting the chapter directly. The same goes for other basic information, such as addresses, office hours, staff names, and other contact details, because these can change over time and are not always updated online.

I also noticed that some chapters have very little information available online at all. This doesn’t necessarily mean the chapter doesn’t have current contact information; it may just not be posted publicly or updated on a regular basis.

Because of this, I’m trying to be careful about what information I include. I would rather leave a Facebook link or phone number blank when I cannot verify that it is current than provide families with an incorrect or unofficial source. The goal is to make the chapter list as useful and accurate as possible, especially since families may rely on these links and numbers to connect with their local chapter.

Overall, the biggest challenge has been that there isn’t one consistent place where all 110 chapters have their current contact information and official social media links listed. Some information is easy to find, while other chapters require more searching or may need to be contacted directly to verify their information.
