Some questions and answers on the video submission:
- In the video, may I hide my face?
Yes, absolutely. We have received videos where people wear masks or don't even show themselves. We have one wonderful short video just showing scenery, livestock, fields, even the blue sky. All are acceptable. Identities will be kept confidential. - In the video, do I need to say that I support vaccines?
No. This is a local community project that we hope you will speak from your heart about what you and your family feel. You can ask questions in the video. Please say what you really feel. Your voice is so important. - How long does the video need to be?
It can be very short or as long as 3 minutes or even more. - Have a lot of videos already been received?
No, so far we are not even close to the limit, so please send in your videos using the methods below. Your family voices are so important. Please do not hesitate to express your voices. - What can you tell us about the new "Omicron" variant from Africa ?
Poor countries have very high unvaccinated populations. Africa has only 7% vaccinated, and that is where Omicron variant is said to have come from last Friday.
Variants happen when viruses are able to crowd together and form heavy loads, usually in communities without vaccines. Vaccines and boosters prevent virus crowds from forming. These crowds and heavy loads cause much more damage than if loads are light. The virus crowds also can change their inner shape to mutate and become "variants." When the virus can't form crowds, mutation doesn't happen easily, although the virus may still be transmitted. America has more than 73% vaccinated and has enough vaccines for everyone.
Our whole team at Navajo Family Voices is vaccinated and also have our boosters. This afternoon, President Biden also hoped that everyone will get vaccines and boosters for both adults and kids, and wear masks.

October 26, 2021
Today, the Restoring & Celebrating Family Wellness workshop could not take place as scheduled at Shiprock Youth Complex due to unforeseen circumstances. In lieu of that workshop, we have uploaded a new YouTube video. It is a short 7 minute video taken today in some loud and blowing wind in which Ray continues about Dine bi beehaz'aanii bitse silei, about the needs of families of concern to relatives. The loud blowing wind makes itself heard sometimes but becomes quiet also to listen when it is important now that the leaves are turning to fall and especially when day turns into evening. At nighttime, we understand the shadow enfolds our body, the one that follows us all day, that shadow is our Mom, and it tells us at that time we should rest our body and have reverance for our body. In evening time as we come together to discuss the days events, we understand that our children have gone through quite a bit during the day. |
