$300 KINSHIP TEAM VISION STIPEND
Acceptance Period: May 10, 2021 - May 30, 2021
Navajo Family Voices, in partnership with New Mexico Children’s Medical Services is announcing a $300 KINSHIP TEAM VISION STIPEND. We ask families to envision kinship, if not for your immediate kids but for their future so we can work towards making dreams real. 100 families will be selected to teach and advise in small discussion panels.
In our last stipend round in January, we funded families who described how they team-coordinated childcare among kinship family. However, we also received many emails from families who did not have kinship childcare resources, or have not been able to develop kinship coordination during COVID.
This new round of stipends asks families to tell us what is your family dream of the best kinship team support that will work for your family, and how programs like Navajo Family Voices and Children’s Medical Services can play a role in kinship coordination. Application instructions are below.

Dear Families,
The application acceptance period for our Kinship Vision Stipend begins May 10. We encourage you to apply.
Last January, we offered a stipend that acknowledged kinship childcare coordination. This time, the stipend is intended for families who may lack kinship support, but express the family vision or dream of kinship support that would make your family most happy and well, even if the challenges seem too great and the goal seems too impossible.
Even if that vision doesn't seem possible right now at all, it is vital to give voice to what might be. There may be very many reasons why a kinship team or support system isn't there at the moment. Reasons may well include divorce, alcohol or substance abuse, illness including COVID, financial hardships, in-fighting including over land use permits, work or study distances, incarceration, lack of cultural understanding including between rural and urban families, other cultural conflict, or a vast number of other reasons that challenge family coordination. There will always be challenges. This stipend asks you to never be discouraged from dreaming. It was Picasso who said, "Everything you can imagine is real."
Please dream. 100 families will be chosen to teach and advise small panels of families online how to dream. Families who didn't get a stipend last time get priority this time.
We hope you are having a very imagined and very real Mother's Day today, and hope to hear from you soon.
